How PMP Certification Elevates Your Career?
- As the demand for skilled project managers is at a critically urgent level, practitioners who hold the PMP certification are well-positioned to provide the professional skills necessary to lead project teams and achieve successful project results.
- You can find PMPs leading projects in nearly every country, and unlike other certifications that focus on a particular geography or domain, the PMP® is truly global.
- As a PMP, you can work in virtually any industry, with any methodology, and in any location.
- The PMP can also provide a significant advantage when it comes to salary and earning potential. Among survey respondents to PMI’s Earning Power Salary Survey, those with a PMP certification garner a higher salary (25 % higher on average) than those without a PMP certification.
- Employers benefit as well. When more than one-third of their project managers are PMP-certified, organizations complete more of their projects on time, on budget, and meeting original goals. (Pulse of the Profession® study, PMI, 2015.)
The bottom line is PMP delivers value far into your career. CIO magazine ranked the PMP as the top project management certification because it proves you have the specific skills and experience employers seek. The PMP signifies that you speak and understand the global language of project management and connects you to a community of professionals, organizations, and experts worldwide.

Accordingly, the PMP certification will be reflective of this and will incorporate approaches across the value delivery spectrum.
The following table identifies the proportion of questions from each domain that will appear on the examination. What is changing in PMBOK Guide – Seventh Edition
The PMBOK® 7th guide itself is still undergoing review and changes. The expected release date will depend on PMI.
Principle vs Process-Based Project Management
PMBOK 7th version moves away from the process-oriented approach to principles-oriented (outcome-oriented) approach. The PMBOK knowledge areas in current and previous PMBOKs and each knowledge area has processes, inputs, tools, techniques, and outputs. These processes will not be available in PMBOK 7th Edition. There will be principles that are generally accepted and practiced in project management. The idea seems to be more action-focused or practitioner-friendly. New PMBOK will focus on outcomes rather than deliverables.
Two fundamental aspects influencing changes in PMBOK-7 are:
- Value Delivery System
- Project Delivery Principles
